Its still pretty cold and wet here but managed to drag ourselves out of the house to head out to my folks cabin for a visit. Everything is so lush and green out there in winter. The wood stove in the annex is always roaring too so you know you'll never be cold when you visit. Ed had a blast sitting on the motorbike and collecting feathers with his cousin. The sheep were about too so my brother took us for a drive and Ed was yelling "HI SHEEP!!" out the window to them and waving. That kid makes my heart explode so many times a day is uncountable. I know I should make the time to get out there because we really do love it and never want to leave once we get there.
The cabin visit was last Saturday and on the Sunday we headed to the market to buy some honey- Harcourt Red Gum Honey incase you're interested. Then we headed over to Bea's (my dear friend I've mentioned before who is the most awesome op-shopper Ive ever met) house for a cuppa. I love Bea's house so much- its quirky and fun and you can see her talent for op-shopping in each little corner of her rooms. Maybe one day she'll let me take some pictures to share with you because it really is such a neat place. I think Frankie magazine should add it to their Spaces book. Every time I leave I am inspired to keep putting more of myself in to decorating my own home. We did some simple renovations to our house just before we got married- new carpet, off white painted walls- but still haven't hung many pictures or things to show our personalities. Well, there are fairy lights and a few bits and bobs here and there but not as much as we would like. So this time when I left Bea's place she sent me off with some cute succulents to place in jars along my windowsill. Apparently they are un-killable.... we will see. She also sent me off with a cute dress from her Aunty and some GORGEOUS fabric for clothes for me and some for a special project I've been working away on. The arms are a bit tight on the dress so I will alter it to be a sleeveless dress. Its a wee bit short for me too so I'll wear it mostly with tights and boots. Other than the length though (which isn't an issue really) and the sleeves, the dress fits great. I can't wait to get wearing it.
Another good thing about last week was Ed FINALLY started to wear the super cute fox and wolf mitts I made him... it might just be when hes playing cars and they are the monsters that come and eat the cars but who cares, at least he is wearing them. I keep trying to make them fit me but no go.
Do you have anything that you've made for your kiddo that they don't want to wear as much as you'd hope?
