Im writing today from the Abu Dhabi international airport. We are on our way to London then on to Paris and Italy for a dear friends wedding. I have had the pictures for this post loaded up for a few days ready to write the words to go with them but nothing would come- funny how that happens sometimes. My brain has been like mush trying to get everything ready for this trip and on top of that my poor sweet babe has had an ear infection. The set of Grommets we had put in last September to help drain the yukky out of his ears had fallen out and last wednesday we had to take him back to the hospital to have some more put in... and just in time for our long long plane ride. As I write he is sleeping soundly next to me in an Etihad pusher napping nicely to insure he is full of beans for the last 7 hour leg of our trip.
Amongst the packing and sewing (of mostly Eds clothes, I only managed one summer dress for myself before I ran out of time) we had lots of cuddles. He gets super super cuddly when he's not feeling 100%. I do hate that he's not feeling his best but I must admit, the cuddles are just so lovely.
I found a great bookshop in town that apparently has been there for 15 years. How could I not have known about it before?! its not like Bendigo is huge. Wal told me it used to be an adult bookshop so maybe thats why I didn't really pay much attention to it in the past. Its a beautiful haven of used books now and such a pleasure to visit. I really could have spent all day there. I picked up a copy of The Brambly Hedge series and its is absolutely beautiful! I want so much to live in their little tree and sew and bake- actually the older I get the more I find myself attracted to children's books, especially the ones where they live in trees or under toadstools.
Ive also been working on some new projects lately. Ive been keeping them pretty quiet but I'm not sure why... maybe I feel a bit like if I tell people what Im doing and don't actually follow through with it I'll seem flakey or unreliable. There is lots of things I want to make and do- theres so much inspiration around me all the time its not to get caught up in the ideas as they come. Lately Ive been working on some cloth dolls. Id like to make the dolls for sale at our local makers market and also as patterns available for download. So far I'm adoring the process. I get to sew, embroider, knit, crochet, design and create- all of my favourite things about making in just one project. I hope the inspiration sticks for a while because I really am enjoying it.
Im pretty sure my sleeping babe will be waking any minute wanting my undivided attention so I'll leave you for now with a sweet picture of peacefulness.
