Made for Mama- The Bonnie Top

bonnie2 My outfit is made up of the Rae Skirt by Sewaholic and the Bonnie Top by Bluegingerdoll. I made the Rae Skirt a little while ago but the Bonnie Top I only just finished this morning. I wanted to make the Bonnie Top as soon as I saw it and I’m wishing I had made it sooner, its so comfy!

Both patterns were really quick and easy to sew up once cut out. Cutting out seems to take a long time now theres a toddler trying to help. I can only really get things cut out when he is sleeping.

I didn't bother making a muslin for the Rae skirt as its a pretty straight forward elastic waisted skirt- cant really go wrong with that. I used some cotton lawn I purchased from my local fabric store. For my Bonnie however, this is actually the muslin I made. I used some scrap knit fabric I had lying around (because you only need 1 meter woot!) and while it turned out ok its probably a little thick for whats needed for Bonnie (the thickness has made the waistband go a bit wavy where it joins). I have some grey knit fabric I brought especially for my Bonnie Top and I’ll use that next time.

I really like how both the skirt and the top have turned out. I particularly like the sleeves on Bonnie, really feminine and a little bit different than whats getting around in the way of knit tops at the moment. I am thinking about putting the flutter sleeve on my next Monetta (first one not blogged but will be shortly).

Now I am trying to decided what to sew next… A Monetta with flutter sleeves or the Nettie Bodysuit. Perhaps a I could try a Nettie bodice with a Monetta skirt and Bonnie sleeves- A Bonetta!
