Friday night while the boys were playing with the ball in the yard Eddie became fixated on what we thought was something in the sky but as it turned out it was a swarm of bees hanging from the tree. Thank goodness he is still so tiny and there was no way he could reach because the was trying to throw his ball at it! I know a beekeeper so I called him and he came and moved the swarm for us.
I had been planning for a while to get a no dig garden bed set up for this years tomatoes so with the help of a dear (and very motivating) friend it finally happened. It took half the day to get the bricks and get the garden bed set up, much quicker than I had anticipated. Wal was on kid duty but of course Eddie wanted to help. Wal did a great job distracting him with buckets of water to play with. I certainly felt I had earned the hot shower and nice rest at the end of the day. Such a great feeling. If you are interested in making one yourself check out this link for the details. *Just a note that we used pea straw and horse poo instead of lucerne hay and chicken poo as the ABC fact sheet linked suggests. My friend made her's this way and it worked fine so hopefully mine will too.
Sunday was on the warm side so I sat in the yard and watched Eddie play with water (again!), while I re-read some old Frankie mags and caught up on some blog reading. Dad dropped this great water table over Sunday morning for Eddie. He loves it! Hopefully he doesn't get sick of it too soon because I'm really enjoying the outside playtime where I get to sit down and relax.
Thank goodness its almost the weekend again.
