I hung a new set of fairy lights- this time in my office/sewing room/spare bedroom/Wal’s computer room. One side of the room is his and one is mine. Along one wall is our spare bed and the other wall holds the patterns for my shop. I selfishly always enter wishing I had the entire room to myself. I get one wall that I can hang what I like on. Wal can hang what he likes on his wall and currently theres a Metallica picture and a huge framed Collingwood Football Club team photo. I can't stand sports memorabilia and am grateful its not in the lounge room. Ive been spending loads of time in this space, sewing up samples and working on my sweater pattern so fairy lights were a must. I’d cover every room in the house with them if I could. I’d also have a Giles lamp in there too if I could afford one- I think they are called Tiffany lamps, maybe- I call them Giles lamps though because Giles from Buffy has them.
I cast off Ed’s little hat for winter and now just need to make a pompom. I brought a couple of pompom makers last year but haven't gotten around to using them yet. I am thinking perhaps some left over Quince & Co lark in honey for the pompom. I am planning on making these mittens too and think they would look nice in navy and honey. Speaking of pompoms, my first paper copy of Pompom magazine arrived this week. I usually just buy it as a download but decided to lash out and get the paper copy too this time. Oh my oh my, I am so glad I did. The paper feels and smells amazing. I know that sounds weird but surely I am not the only one out there that gets excited when nice paper is used in magazines?
It seems that the wee one is starting to drop his afternoon nap. EEEK! I mean, doesn't he know this nap time is actually for me and not him? apparently not. He goes down for the nap no worries but when we try to put him to bed at 7pm he chucks it and doesn't end up asleep until about 9pm. All the info I am finding suggests that it might be time to get rid of the arvo nap but I’ve tried this and by about 4pm he is pretty tired and cranky. I think that perhaps he is just at an in-between stage so I am going to try and go by feel I think. On the days he is awake super early I’ll pop him down for a nap during the day but otherwise we will just go with some afternoon quiet time. The last 3 pictures are of our quiet time so far- cuddles, sheet cubbies and movies.
I can still get about and do some housework and things so no naps is not all so bad- its just a big change in routine we have to get used to. I made a shepherds pie during some quiet time from this recipe. I don't have any evidence of the finished meal because it was scoffed pretty quickly once out of the oven. I liked that the celery in the pan matched our kettle.
Shepherds pie for dinner, trackies, flannies and handmade socks. Yep- The Johnstone’s are doing Autumn proud so far.
