Things have been very quiet around here of late- on the blog and in life. We've been doing a lot of hanging about in our pyjamas and drinking hot lemon and honey drinks for sore throats. I was in need of some comfort food so I baked a butter cake using this recipe and prettied it up with pink icing and sprinkles. I gave half away to a friend and Wal & I polished off the rest pretty quickly. It was delicious. I forgot how nice simple cakes can be.
I was supposed to meet my friend at the market last sunday but felt too under the weather to go so she popped over on her way home with some yummy honey, lemons and mandarines from her trees and some really cute tea towels she had thrifted for me on her latest op shop travels. I know I say it a lot- or maybe I don't and I just think it- but man, I am a lucky girl to have such sweet friends.
I thought I'd take this opportunity in a week with not much current making, and lots of finishing off to show you the sweater I made as part of a knitwear design class I have been taking. After many times of being ripped back and started again I finally finished it, and the class. I am currently working on a similar style sweater but on a smaller scale for Ed. I used Quince & Co yarn, Lark in colourway Malbec for my sweater and am using the same for Ed's but in colourway Honey. I was knitting a cardigan for myself out of the Honey but realised I didnt have enough yarn so I frogged it and decided to use it for something for Ed.
I enjoyed the class a lot and am glad I did it even though its filled my head with even more ideas and inspiration than there is room from. Does anyone else ever feel over inspired? There are so many things I want to do and make and not enough time to do them all in! Sigh... for now though, I'm just going to sit on the couch with my lad, in my pyjamas and drink another hot lemon and honey.
